SEN

    The SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinartor) at

    Fernhill Primary School is Mrs Lafrenais. This is what the

    children say about her;

    'She is a great teacher and supports those pupils who need

    extra help in the classroom. She is always happy and encourages all children to do well in their work'

THRASS

Teaching, Handwriting, Reading And Spelling Skills

THRASS is a way to teach handwriting, reading and spelling skills using all the child’s senses. Teachers and Learning Support Assistants use CDs with raps, visual material (called picturecharts and wordcharts) and games on the interactive whiteboard.

Is your child ‘doing THRASS?’

THRASS is being used in year 3 and with groups of children in the other Key Stage 2 classes.

What children say about THRASS

The following comments are from children who took part in the THRASS program last year.

It gets into your brain.

I like doing the raps.

The ABC bit is best.

It helps our reading and spelling.

Its fun!

I like the bit where it (CD) says point with your finger.

If you want to know more, please contact either Miss Grant or Mrs Lafrenais who will be happy to discuss THRASS with you.
